Starting School

Every effort is made to ensure that children joining Maes yr Haul, either for their first time in school, or transferring to us from another school have a smooth and positive process.  For parents who are considering whether to bring their children to us, we are always happy to arrange to show families around our school and to discuss any questions or concerns with them.

We arrange ‘stay and play’ sessions for our incoming Nursery pupils and information sessions for parents.  We stagger our start dates for Nursery pupils to ensure that staff can give the new arrivals good attention and get to know them straight away.  Their length of time in school is gradually increased, usually over the space of a week or two, so that we are confident the children are able to manage a full day in school successfully.  In order to support this process, we ask that parents try to ensure that their child is toilet trained before they begin, although obviously our staff are happy to support this process when necessary.
