Our topic this term is The Wonderful World of Roald Dahl
Our Literacy focus for this half term is dialogue and play scripts, the children will end the half term by producing their own play using stimuli based on Roald Dahl books.
We will also be looking at poetry, using 'Revolting Rhymes'.
Our Author for our class novels will continue to be Roald Dahl.
We will be completing guided reading sessions daily. We will be reading individually with the children every other week (giving 2 books). Please ensure that the books are returned every other Friday depending on your class.
We will be completing daily spelling sessions using games and activities from spelling shed.
Our Numeracy focus for Spring term will be problem solving, reasoning (explaining how we have solved mathematical problems and calculations) times tables, addition, subtraction and multiplication column methods, fractions, capacity and perimeter.
Big Maths- we will be completing weekly CLIC, SAFE and Learn its tests in class. There are lots of videos to support your child's learning on the Mathematics and Numeracy tab of the website.
We will be using Doodle Maths and J2blast on Hwb to practise our Maths and times tables skills. You can use these at home too :)
We will be starting by learning about The BFG and linking this to The Queen's Jubilee, after this the children will navigate the learning with their favourite Roald Dahl books. We will be showcasing dance, art and music through film as part of our Jubilee fortnight. We will be learning about sound in our Science work and UK as part of the commonwealth.
Every day we aim to complete the daily mile, 6 laps of the black tar! Children can run, walk etc. around the tar and are encouraged to drink plenty of water to keep hydrated so please remember to send a full water bottle to school every day.
Children are encouraged to bring a pencil case to school every day with:
* Colouring pencils
(in Year 3 the class teacher will decide when they are ready to move onto writing with a pen)
Our P.E. days are Monday and Wednesday. Please ensure your child comes to school wearing the appropriate kit (white t-shirt, black joggers/shorts and trainers)
We look forward to a fun term of learning!
