KS1 INFANT CLASSES
As they progress through the school, children will be given reading books, spellings and occasionally simple maths and handwriting tasks to take home. Homework will sometimes be a consolidation exercise, reinforcing and practising what has already been introduced in school. Some homework will be individual such as spellings or handwriting practice, other homework may be more general to the class such as finding out information on a class topic. Most homework will mean READING and the reading record book will be sent home for parents to comment and read the teachers’ comments.
Children are encouraged to use local libraries or the internet to access information.
Parents are important role models for young children, a child’s attitude to learning will often be based upon a parent’s willingness to spend time engaging in enthusiastic learning with their child.
