During last week's Thinking Thursday the children said they wanted to learn about submarines. This week the children learned about the special windows they have on the side of submarines in which to observe the wonderful water world - portholes. The children created their own porthole with a fishy scene.

Threading!

Today the children used their clever fingers to thread different items on to a string. Firstly they practiced the activity and then completed the task under a time limit. The children's fine motor skills are really developing!






Number Hunt

To revise the numbers we have learned so far the children went on a number hunt. They went around the Foundation Phase department locating, saying the numbers aloud and recording them.








How Does Your Garden Grow????

This week the children have been working together to develop our outside garden. They have been learning about plants and what is needed to make sure they grow and develop.
Spring Printing

For our Esiteddfod art entry this year the children had to create a spring image on a polystyrene tile. The then chose the colour paint they wanted to use as their print and then pressed the image down on to a piece of white A4 paper to create their final entry.






Number Work

This week the children have been consolidating their number work. They worked independently to match the correct number of items to the number on the autumn leaf.








Busy Little Bees

This week the children have been busy creating the different areas of the classroom.
In the small world area they wanted to create a nest for our class owls after reading a class story.
The children wanted to create an igloo in the role play corner, so they worked with Miss Biston to recycle the milk bottles to create the structure.
It was also photograph time in class this week and the local photographer was in to take a picture of the children in their Welsh costumes.

Follow That Line

This week the children have been busy learning about the number 8 and 9. They have completed many activities and rehearsed the formation of the numbers by following the dotted line.

A Journey to Santa!

Today, the children went on a journey to visit Santa. Luckily he had time to stop of at Greenmeadow farm whilst the children were there, surrounded by many beautiful animals.
All the children had the opportunity to meet him and tell the special man what they hoped to receive for Christmas.
After meeting Santa the children went to watch a Nativity performed by animals.

PC Stewart

As part of our topic, 'People who help us!,' we invited PC Stewart into class to talk to the children about his role in our community. The children learnt the importance of police officers and the special number they need to dial, should they ever need help.








Parents' Evening

We have changed the format for this term's meetings with teachers. There will be no individual appointments but classrooms will be open for you to visit with your child on Tuesday 4th October at 3:30 - 6:00 p.m.
We hope you will have a good look around the classroom and your child will be able to show the activities in which they have participated this term.
Our Spring term parent/teacher meetings will be by appointment and will be a full progress report.

Let's Go On An Adventure!

This week the children had another brilliant time. They were able to visit the 'trim trail' and explore all of the equipment, which they will get to use when it's not so wet. The foam was set out for the children to experiment with different patterns and also they were able to write their name on the white board.
