Welcome back to the new term. The children have all returned keen and fresh to start work on a new topic. Our topic this half term is 'Wonderful Wales' and the children are enthusiastic to find out what makes our country so wonderful.
This term also sees our class performing in their class assembly. The date of the assembly is THURSDAY 26TH JANUARY at 9am, we look forward to seeing you to share our assembly.
Also this term we will be helping the RSPB by taking part in a bird watch where we have to observe the birds we see over a given time and report the findings back to them. Ready to get twitching!!
An exciting and wonderful topic this term sees us exploring and investigating welsh wildlife, countryside and birds. It will also include looking at famous welsh people, welsh folk tales and welsh traditions.

Welcome to a term that will see year 2 becoming Danger Rangers. Everyone has settled in well and we are all excited about our new class and the new topic for this term.
During our Thinking Thursday sessions the children have input to what they would like to do in the following week.
We have been investigating endangered animals and exploring electricity within the school.
The children have been very creative with the different activities that they have chosen such as making manatee shaped bread (which the children enjoyed eating) and creating chalk animals on the yard.
Yesterday saw our tray and display evening, which was a great success. Thank you to all that attended.
Thank you for your support,
Miss Crutch

Class Assembly
July 20, 2011, 2:01 pm
On Thursday 24th June we welcomed our family to our class assembly to share the work we had completed about Fables. We had all written our own fable with a clear moral and message. We then chose to adapt one, written by one of the class, to write as a play script. We worked hard to learn the words and the songs. The moral of the Fable was to never go with or talk to strangers. A big thank you to all our families who supported us learning our words and providing us with costumes. We hope you had as much fun watching as we did performing!!

This term we had a visit from P.C. Stewart who talked to us about the effects and potential dangers of alcohol, as part of our science topic 'keeping healthy'. The children thoroughly enjoyed the quiz and activities carried out during the session.
Visit to Big Pit

This term we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Big Pit National Mining Museum of Wales. During our visit we listened to Maggie Morgan who told us about her experience as a Victorian child working in the mine. The children asked good questions about Maggie's life and received interesting answers.
We also visited the conservation centre, where an ex-miner demonstrated different machinery and equipment used in the mine.
